Relationship and Idealism
How many times have we had the chance to get involved in short term relationship with people that aren't compatible with us, but we are interested because they can temporarily fufill a void? Compatibility for some of us is such a hard criteria for it to be fufilled. How many of us run into people that think in similiar ways , but at the same time feel totally comfortable around them? But at the same end, being totally selective leaves us with a possibility of being single forever, which isn't a great option. Exactly which sacrifices should we make in trade for all this. Should we sacrifice our idealism for realism? Is it realistic to think that there is such a one? If so, whats the chances that the relationship may consumate. Perhaps that girl of your dreams either has a boyfriend, beyond your reach, overseas et c. And it is beyond you. Hope is such a depressing word, is hope denial of reality?(quote off rastlin Dgonlance) | Parable Tuesday. 5.4.04 1:09 pm There lived once a prince of a providence in Japan. He was neither dashing, handsome ,but neither was he stupid or slow. He was a kind hearted man, who tried to help others that needed his help, but neither was he an exceptionally nice man. During those days, christianity in japan was being persecuted after the shogunate in japan deemed them to be a threat to the royal shinto religion of japan. The prince was impartial in their persecution , he was busy living his own life to worry about the life of others. When his soldiers arrested christians, he treated them like everyone else, jailed those that were guilty ,but at the same time he freed those who he viewed had no sins. Upon a chance one ofthese arrests led to the capture of the most beautiful maiden in the world he had ever seen in his life. For the first time in his life the prince was in love. He demanded the soldiers to release the girl captive immediately and asked her to to be with him as a companion. The more he talked to her, the more he got captivated by her beauty and fierce independent nature. For the first time in his life he felt there was a girl who seemed to like him for who he was, not for the prince he was meant to be. Because of his love for her, he secretely allowed all the christians that were captured to be released. When word of his lenience towards christians spread to the shogunate, he was immediately punished and looked infavoribly by the rest of the court. But he did not mind, he loved the girl nevertheless. Going against all court rules and knowing he could be outcast from the court, he asked the christian girl to marry him. He was ready to give up his crown, and live a humble life in the mountains as a farmer with the girl, because he truely loved her. The girl however rejected him saying she could only marry a christian , and could not marry someone part of a government that persecuted christians. He begged for manydays, and pleaded with her to change her mind, promising to live a life of a christian even if he wasn't one. But she refused saying she felt jesus christ would not approve her marrying someone who did not believe in him. She left saying sorry while he enraged at home for months. For months he sat at home doing nothing, but brooding in anger and hurtful pain. He could not blame the girl for not choosing to marrying him, because he knew she loved him, and instead he blamed christianity. The normal prince once known for his fairity and calm nature changed over the months. He soon became famous all around the country as the impaler and the red demon of rage with christians. Soon the whole region which was once a calm, peaceful world and a refuge for christians became a place of sadism and torture. Christians were hunted and crucified everywhere, his anger knew no bounds till his samurais hunted all across japan hunting every christian they could. One day leading a small troop of samurais to a village of christian which he torched, he noticed one of his prisoners was a midaged woman with carrying a two kids on her back. For some reason her face was very familiar and upon approaching they immediately recognsied each others faces. Their eyes met each other briefly , all of a sudden all the hatred within him disappeaerd replaced with sadness. "Why did you leave me? Why did you hurt me so? Why did you make me the man I am now?" To which she replied ," I did nothing, you made your own choice, it was you who chose your life, like I chose mine." To which the prince replied ,"For your selfishiness in thinking you did what jesus wanted you to do, you have cost me my soul and the lives of thousands of christians nation wide. Lady you have sacrificed my soul to rot in hell for eternity for you to go to heaven." He left the village unharmed without a word, while she weeped uncontrollably realising that the unselfish action she thought she made earlier on, infact was the selfish one. She had the power to help transform japan into a country that accepted christians, and help save a mans soul, but she chose in her selfish ways to save her own soul at the cost of thousands of other peoples souls. Being a true christian is about saving the souls of the non christians, not about saving your own. And when she had the power and opportunity to help christians throughout japan she selfishly did not think about saving ot her people, just thought about her own soul. As a christian what is more important, saving ones own soul or saving the souls of others? I guess only Jesus would know..but what would he have done I wonder.. 9 Comments. kill bill
